Pitching a Media Product Idea to an Audience: Christmas Advertisment

PITCH A MEDIA PRODUCT IDEA TO AN AUDIENCE: christmas pitch

-Every advertisement becomes a reality due to a pitch presentation. In order to get the green light the creator needs to consider the genre, the synopsis, the target audience, cast and crew as initial presentation. -For this assignment you will create a pitch for a Christmas TV advertisement for a shop or charity.-Duration of your pitch will be 5-10 mins.-You will provide feedback to your peers on their pitch.

1. Be able to pitch an idea for a media product to an audience

1.1- Be able to pitch and idea for a media product to an audience.

Lecturer and class observed my pitch

2.1- Be able to produce a written/illustrated document to accompany a pitch.

A hard/paper copy in my folder and the powerpoint has been uploaded into my blog.

3.1 - Be able to critique a media product and pitch.
I believe that James' christmas pitch was well presented and included a lot of information about the store he was advertising. He included three other advertisements which he took ideas from and included in his synopsis. Those were "The greatest gift" by Sainsburys, Monty the penguin which is also by John Lewis and the classic Coca Cola advert from 1997. He also included good information about his target audience and who would be interested in the store that he is advertising. The store that James was pitching for was John Lewis. The synopsis of his pitch starts out with two cartoon characters falling in love in a park knowing that they can't be together because they are a different cartoon "species". Then they both return home upset and the boys family mention that it is Christmas and it is all about love and happiness and say they should be together.

4.1 - Be able to reflect on your own idea and pitch performance.
-The task was to create a pitch/advertisement for a product or store/service.-The other products in the market like Argos and Tesco Direct influenced me to mention that my product includes free next day delivery and a 30 day free trial. -The mood that I want my viewers to feel is relief and excited to use the easy service. -I feel like my pitch was rather successful and think this because I included some good points explaining why my product is better than others. -I did not encounter any problems.
-The thing that I am most proud of with my piece of work is the synopsis. I feel like the synopsis would work very well if it was an actual advert.-I feel like I did not explain the synopsis as well as a should have.-I will look at what I have wrote on the powerpoint more to ensure I do explain it better next time. The skills that I have learn't from this project is researching into more depth.
-If I had to go back and improve, I would improve my research into the other services.

Research Methods and Techniques

Research Methods

Primary Research- Primary research is used by researchers to collect data directly rather than depending on other sources to provide the data. Primary research can be collected many ways but some examples are by questionnaires, surveys and even interviews within small groups of people or even individuals.

Secondary Research- Secondary research is a research method that involves using already existing researched data. Secondary research can be made available on the internet, libraries.

Qualitative Research- Qualitative research is research that requires a more in-depth response. It allows you to ask more personal questions and collect more data on people. This is best used with T.V shows to get some personal responses from some of their viewers.

Quantitative Research- Quantitive research is research that is collected and the data is absolute. For example, it is numerical data and is usually showed in graphs and tallies.

Research Techniques

What is an information Trail?- An information trail is used to keep track of everything that you have researched such as putting down what websites you have visited and at what specific date and time. This is very useful because say if one person did a whole lot of research one day, then the next day someone took over, then they would be able to see when and where the research that had previously been done has come from.

What does it mean to collate research?- Collating is where you select particularly good information that you have gathered and organized so you can find them easily. It is good to organize as you know what you're looking for and can find it much easier and quicker than it all being messed up.

Best practice with storing your research data securely- It is a good practice to only what you need and keep at least three copies of it. You can also store those three copies on different things like a USB stick or even a service like Google Drive.

Techniques to find out information- The most common research techniques are literature searches, talking with people, focus groups, personal interviews, telephone interviews, mail surveys, email surveys and interview questions.
