Teamwork Skills Zombie Movie

1. BE ABLE TO CONTRIBUTE TO THE SETTING OF THE TEAM AND INDIVIDUAL GOALS

1.1. Identify the teams goals
I am being asked to create a short zombie movie that will be a few minutes long. Our goal is to work as a team with our own production role to make the film

1.2. Describe the process involved in planning and deciding the team’s goals
First we pitched our own ideas to the rest of the class. Then we voted on which idea we liked the most and decided to choose 'Revelations' by James Potts. Then we discussed all the roles that we need and who will have each role.

2. UNDERSTAND OWN AND OTHERS’ RESPONSIBILITIES IN ACHIEVING THE TEAMS GOALS

2.1. Organise own activities effectively within the agreed goals of the team
My role for the creation of this movie was the co-director. My responsibilities were to direct the film, brief the actors and film crew so that they know what we wanted.

2.2.   Provide information detailing own and other team members’ responsibilities
Myself & Matthew - Director - Rehearsing with the actors before the shoot, working with t camera crew, approving the shooting locations, discussing costume & make up ideas with Ofentse, Liaise with Josh regarding props and working along side the screenwriter to create a storyboard.
Sam, James & Leyton - Camera Crew - Source locations/location scout (health and safety   considerations & ensure permissions have been granted). Ensure all footage is named correctly and uploaded to a designated area to enable the editors to edit the final piece.
Jamie - Screenwriter - Work with James to develop and create the screenplay from his original story line. Work along side the directors to create a storyboard.
Josh - Technical Assistant - Ensure equipment is booked and/or sourced. Design and source props.
Daniel & Karim - Editor - Liaise with the directors in post production to complete final product.
Karim - Sound - Check mic levels and control sound during the production.

3. BE ABLE TO PLAN AND UNDERTAKE TEAM ACTIVITIES

3.1. Plan activities that enable the team to reach its goals

Friday 26th April - I was absent

Wednesday 1st May - We had a team production and then we worked in small groups to develop the rest of  the story line. We then presented the ideas to to pull the story together.

Friday 3rd May - I worked with Matthew & Jamie to develop the screenplay.

Wednesday 8th May - We had a disappointing start to the production since one of the team members were missing and we didn't have the script. The actors arrived so we had to think on our feet to do something productive. We took some of the scenes that we know will be in the movie and made the actors improvise some of the dialog.

Friday 10th May - Still had no script so we worked in different groups to develop the script for each scene. This is what Matthew & I did...

Wednesday 15th May - We went out to film the first scenes and got the first two scenes filmed.

Friday 17th May - We continued to film

Wednesday 22nd May - We were filming again today however we are running behind schedule so we need to film our last scenes on Friday

Friday 24th May - Before we set out to film we ran into some problems... We were 2 actors down so we had to think of ideas of how to remove them from the story. We then were running out of time to film the rest of the film since the actors that we had, had to leave so we had to compromise and create an alternative ending to the film.

3.2. Identify own responsibilities towards the team in relation to the plan
My responsibilities were to direct the film along side Matthew since we were co-directors. I direct the first half of the movie along side Matthew then we directed the end as solo directors.

3.3. Carry out own responsibilities
I carried out my own responsibilities.

3.4. Contribute to the successful completion of the team activities
3.1. shows my contribution to the successful completion of the team activities.

4. Be able to review the team activities

4.1. Feedback on own actions in relation to the overall team activities
During the shooting I was the co-director and I think my strengths of directing is that I can take control of the situation. I feel like if there was a next time to produce another short film, I would make sure that the pre-production was absolutely completed before we went out to shoot each scene. I have learned that pre-production is incredibly important to the creation of any film whether it is a short or a feature film. I also feel that Matthew and I could have worked together better since we were co-directors.

4.2. Describe different team members' contributions
Most of the team worked well together to create the final product however there was some disinterest and a lack of motivation to get the film finished for the deadline. There were a few problems during pre-production with the script not being complete.
